Equestrian Society

The Equestrian Club is open to riders from P5 in the Preparatory Department right through to Upper 6th in the Senior School.

The club competes throughout the year and enjoys regular success at events all over the province. Representing the RSA whilst competing on their horse or pony, gives the riders a great sense of achievement. The smiling faces say it all when the hard work and training pays off on competition day.

The main discipline is show-jumping where the horse and rider combination tackle a course of colourful and challenging jumps. For all riders that have jumped clear in the first round a jump off against the clock follows – this is a very quick and exciting round, with the fastest clear winning the competition. The jump heights range from 70cm in the Primary class up to 1.10m for the more experienced.

The Tack and Turnout inspection is also a very important part of the competition. Horses and riders are inspected for plaited manes, polished boots and clean tack. For the team to be in with a chance of winning Best Turned Out, a very high standard is required.

To be part of our friendly club where having fun is the main aim; please contact the school for more information.
